Where Do You Fill Up?

Rejuvenate
Replenish
Refill
Make time for yourself.

Where do you go when your gas tank in your car is almost empty?
To the gas station of course.

Let me ask you another question......where do you go when your own energy tank is almost empty?
In other words where do you fill up with mental energy?

Do you go for easy and quick fill-ups like chocolate, cookies, chips, soda, coffee from Starbucks when you are feeling that you are running on empty and having no energy left?

Unfortunately these quick fill-ups will leave us feeling more empty than before we filled up.

Or are you frequently jumping into new relationships because of the way they make you feel. Filled with energy and passion in the beginning but after a while the relationship will make you feel even more empty than it did before you entered it.

Or do you spend the evenings on your sofa watching meaningless TV in hopes that you will get some inspiration and energy from watching other peoples´ drama and craziness?

How about alcohol, shopping or gambling. Yes it is fun for a while and you get some escape from the daily grind. These activities will give you a little boost of energy while your are doing them but how does it make you feel afterwards when you wake up with a hangover, or you know you spend way too much money on clothes that you didn´t need, or maybe you gambled away all your savings for an evening of fun in Vegas?

Unfortunately all of the above will not fill us up for a very long time. We will get hungry and feeling empty quickly and a lot of times we will return for more.

How about trying to find something that will fill you up in the long run. Something that won´t give just a lot of empty calories?

Create empowering and meaningful relationships.

Find a job that will make you feel like you are growing and that you are contributing something.

Learn some new skills. Develop yourself as a person.

Start a new hobby or two. Learn something new. Get out of your comfort zone....it won´t kill you.

Start journaling, meditating, yoga or praying.

Get out and meet new people. Start volunteering.

Spend time in nature.

Pick an exercise that you like to do.

Spend time with people that will lift you up - not the ones that will complain, gossip and dump their drama onto you.

I know for myself I fill up my own tank by writing this blog.
I enjoy my coaching business.....it is so much fun to learn and to grow and to help other people do the same.

I constantly learn new things by listening to seminars on line, reading books and attending live events.

I also have to spend time in nature. It is a must for me. I walk with my two dogs almost every morning. It is one of the best way to recharge my batteries. My two girls Nikki and Lady are such a energy source. The make me smile and laugh every day.

I spend time with positive uplifting people that want to learn and grow themselves.

I pay close attention to what I eat and drink. I used to be hooked on Diet Coke for  many years but I don´t drink sodas anymore. I watch what I eat and I try to be as healthy as I can when it comes to my food. I still have a problem with sugar. It is my to go to drug of choice when I feel lonely and disconnected but I am trying to replace that habit with something more empowering and filling....like exercising, reading and listening to motivational  and educational information and videos on-line.

Stand Guard at the Door of Your Mind

"I will not let anyone walk through my mind
                                                            with their dirty feel."
                                                                    - Gandhi

                                                      "Be careful how you think;
your life is shaped by your thoughts."

What would you do if I came into your home and dumped a large trashcan of nasty smelly garbage on your living room floor?

You might call the police and have me arrested? Or beat me up? Demand that I would clean it up?

We can clean up the garbage on your living room floor and there will be no damage done.

But what about all the garbage that we dump in our mind every single day?

A lot of things that goes into our minds is nothing but pure garbage.

"My teacher Jim Rohn taught me a simple principle; every day stand guard at your mind, and you alone decide what thoughts and beliefs you let into your life. For they will shape whether you feel rich or poor, cursed or blessed."
- Tony Robbins

Make sure that you evaluate what you read and what you view.

Ask yourself if what you are reading and viewing will that help you accomplish your goals in life or will it instead distract or prevent you from reaching and accomplishing your goals.

Remember that what you are and where you are is caused by what has gone into your mind.

You can change what you are and where you are by changing what does go into your mind.

Make sure that you will feed your mind with the clean, the pure and the positive.

Why Motivation Doesn´t Last

"People often say that motivation doesn´t last.
Well neither does bathing....that´s why we recommend it daily.
                                                                 - Zig Ziglar

If I motivate myself once in a while to do something......how come I can´t seem to create some better habits and to live a more fulfilling life?

Does motivation last?

No it doesn´t.

Why?

The same reason that bathing doesn´t last either and it is recommended that you do it daily.

Same thing with eating. You can´t just eat once a while and survive for very long.
Exercising is another great example. You will not get in a great shape if you only exercise once a month or even once a week.

So how come we can´t just motivate ourselves once in a while?
Simply because there are so many things during a day that will de-motivate us.

It is estimated that over 90% of our daily input is of a negative nature.
The news is mostly negative. So if we read the newspaper and watch TV daily we will get a large dose of negativity served straight into our mental factory or our brain. Can you imagine what that will do to our attitudes and our mind over a couple of years?
The Internet is also filled with traps of negativity. A lot of people venting their frustrations on Facebook and we are picking it up and allowing it to enter our own mind. It seems like everywhere we turn people are arguing, complaining and venting their frustrations and their negativity.

Now let us add all our negative relatives, family members, co-workers, bosses and friends.....WOW sometimes it is amazing that we can stay positive and happy with all of that negativity all around us.

So what can we do to motivate ourselves on a daily base.....yes it has to be almost daily to be effective since there is so much de-motivation going on all around us.

We can start by not watching as much TV, not reading the newspaper and spend less time surfing the Internet. We can also be selective who with spend our valuable time with.

We can also learn to motivate ourselves on a daily base.

Motivation is a muscle and you can grow it. By using it every day it will become larger.

I am talking about self-motivation because there isn´t really any other kind of motivation.
Don´t depend on others to motivate you, because what will happen if they don´t???

Example. You have decided to start going to the gym. You and a friend are going to do it together. It is great to have an exercise buddy, but don´t depend on that person too much because what will happen the day that they don´t show up to go to the gym with you?

What will you do...no go to the gym....because you are not motivated to go on your own?
Bad plan.
Self-motivation is key. Don´t allow other people to stop you because you lack your own motivation.

Build you motivation muscle on a daily base.

So how do we do this?

Tony Robbins was talking about it on SuperSoulSunday with Oprah about a month ago.
He calls it "Priming" yourself on a daily base.

This is how it works.

Take 10 minutes of your time right away in the morning to prime yourself for the day.
You can spend ten minutes doing gratitude, praying, meditation, plan your day, read some inspirational material or whatever will work for you.
Something that will set you up for a more positive day.

Don´t tell me that you don´t have an extra ten minutes in the morning???
Just simply get up ten minutes earlier and that will take care of that problem.

Most people get up 30 minutes too late anyway and then they stress around in the morning and by the time they get to work they are already exhausted and in a bad mood because of all the running around in the morning.
They were already late, even before they even got out of bed.

Don´t let this be you. Make a new habit of getting up a ten minutes earlier and prime yourself.
You will be surprised how much better you will feel after a while.

I have been priming myself for years. I just didn´t call it priming. I just called it "My Hour of Power."

In 2011 I started to get up early every morning.
Today I always light a candle and drink some hot tea while I listen to some motivational recording for an hour. To be able to this I have to get up an hour earlier every morning but it is well worth it, and I wouldn´t want to miss it. My day won´t be the same if I don´t do it.

So are you going to get up a little earlier starting tomorrow to "Prime" yourself?
Just remember to make it daily habit for it to be effective.

How Are You Coming Along With Your Goals for 2016?

"Get out of your own way...
                                             Stop the paralysis by analysis....
                                                    Decide what you want,
create a simple plan, and get moving."
                                                   - Dr. Steve Maraboli

Time is flying by quickly.

There are only a little over 3 months left in 2016.

How are you coming along with your goals for this year?

Have you been able to accomplish what you set out to do at the beginning of this year?

If not......here are a few questions that you might want to ponder on.

This is how it works.

To get clarity on what you want you must first carve out some quiet time for yourself
Sit down with a pen and a piece of paper. Always write things down.

1. What will it take for me to make the changes that I need to succeed?

2. What is stopping me from being able to make the changes? What fear is holding me back?

3.What are some of the obstacles or roadblocks that I must remove in order to have my
breakthrough?

4. Come up with 2-3  solutions for every obstacle.

5. Who can support me and hold me accountable?

6. What are the temptations that I must remove from my life so that I will be able to stay on track?

7. Who do I need to spend more time with to help me stay on track? And who do I need to spend less time with?

8. What books can I read to get some more clarity, ideas and inspiration?

9. Who can mentor me or coach me?

Feeling Stressed? Try This!

                                                    "Start writing, no matter what.
The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on."
                                                             - Louis L´Amour

Have you been feeling stressed lately?

Do you carry around experiences and feelings from the past that are creating an inner stress?

Maybe it is something that makes you feel uneasy and uncomfortable and you are trying to push it aside or even trying to forget it?

Is it working or is it only making matters worse?

In the long run it will be easier to face the difficult feelings and express them.

Today I will share with you a great exercise that will hopefully allow you to let go of some of your inner stress.

This is how you do it........

Put aside 20 minutes for about five to seven days in a row.

Make sure you are totally undisturbed.

Bring forth the feelings or the experience that you can´t let go of and start writing it down.

Don´t worry about spelling the words right, grammar or the finished result....Just write.

Don´t read what you wrote. When the 20 minutes are up just throw away what you have written.

If some feelings show up that are hard to handle..... simply stop writing.

Positive Thinking

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking
we used when we created them."
                                                            - Albert Einstein

I am sure that you have heard a lot of people talking about Positive Thinking.

They enthusiastically will declare that you can do just about anything if you just believe it and think about it positive enough.......then you will be able to do it.

I am here to tell you that positive thinking won´t let you do anything.

I doesn´t matter how positive I got I could not win a gold medal in gymnastics at The Olympic Games, or play tennis at Wimbledon.
I would not be able to perform major surgery on someone and have them survive or speak Chinese fluently.

Positive thinking won´t let you do anything.......
BUT it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.

Unfortunately over 90% of the input in our minds on a daily base is of a negative nature.

Over and over in our lives we have been told NO! or You Can´t Do It!

People all around us are negative and the language we use is often filled with negative words.

Positive thinking will allow us to use our ability and that is all that we really need.

There is a big difference in how you would solve a problem with a negative mind compared to a positive mind.

Positive thinking alone will not solve a problem.
But if you think positive you will also feel positive and then your actions that you take will be positive.

Positive thoughts are not enough.
Get positive feelings and positive actions.
