Be Willing To Make A New Start

"No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again."

                                                     - Buddha

Difficult times happens to everyone. It doesn´t matter if you are rich or poor, young or old, man or woman. It doesn't matter where you live in the world...things do happen in our lives.
Things we didn't plan for and things we didn´t expect to happen.

We can not avoid or control these storms or setbacks in our lives.
But what we can control is how we respond to them.

Are you going to allow yourself to stay in bed for several months after a setback?
Are you going to blame someone else for your situation?
Are going to continue to focus on what used to be?
Are you going to continue to focus on what you have lost... On what is no longer part of your life?

Or are you going to pull yourself together and start again?
One small action at a time?

One great key to quickly recover from a setback is to have something to go for right a way.
Don´t let if affect you for a year or longer. Put something together right away. It might not be the total answer, but you must start walking.
Life doesn´t give us what we need, it gives us what we deserve.

Have something new to focus on.
You can continue to focus on what isn´t working and what you have lost.
If you continue to do this you will eventually feel stuck in a negative pattern.

Time to shift your focus onto what is possible for you instead of focusing on the obstacles and the possible obstacles in the future.

Start walking from your desperate situation into a more empowering mode.
Start changing your philosophy and start to focus on what else you can do to make the situation change.

Start where you are.
Learn as you go.
Continue to take action.

Tip!

Be willing to learn new strategies.
Be willing to make a new start.
Be willing to go again.

Life Is Both Ups And Downs

"Life is full of ups and downs.

The trick is to enjoy the ups and have courage during the downs."

Life is always changing.

If we don't like the way things are right now, we only have to wait for a while and things will change. It always does and it always will.

Sometimes in life we are up, and sometimes we are down. Sometimes we are happy and sometimes we are sad. That is life.

We will never have things go smoothly and life will not be easy all the time, and we must learn to accept this.

We all go through ups and downs, but it's during the down times, that most of the growth takes place. It's during these time that we have to go to work.

"Sometimes the most important life lessons are the ones

we end up learning the hard way."

                                                                 - Unknown

Anyone can feel good when they have their health, the bills are paid and you have healthy and happy relationships.

Anyone can feel good when the kids are doing well and business is successful. Anyone can be positive then.

When things are going good it's easy to have a large vision for our life. Anyone can have faith during those circumstances.

But the real challenge of growth, mentally, emotionally and spiritually is when we get knocked down.

How we handle being knocked down, that is where the real growth takes place.

"We don't grow when things are easy.

We grow when we face challenges."

If you find yourself stuck... here is something you can do.

Evaluate where you are. Asses yourself. Learn about yourself and your patters.

What brought you here? What role did you play?

"Life is always up and down,

so why are you worried when you are at the bottom,

                                                    the next place is up."

It's Difficult To Score Without A Goal

"Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible."

                                                               - Tony Robbins

Person A: Would you please tell me which way I ought to go from here?

Person B. That depends on where you want to get to?

Here is a question for YOU: Do you know what you want? Why you want it? And where you need to go from here?

"Create a vision and never let the environment, other people's beliefs,

and the limits of what has been done in the past shape your destiny."

                                                                 - Tony Robbins

Set goal

Make plan

Get to work

Stick to it

Reach goal

"Your vision of where or what you want to be is the greatest asset you have.

Without having a goal, it's difficult to score."

                                                                     - Paul Arden

Focus on what you want.

Create a 30-minite morning routine where you connect with your vision.

Look at your goals every single day. Feel them, visualize them, talk though them, write them down and think about them.

Do something simple today that will have a positive impact on your future.

Decide on 2-3 things that you will do every day that has something to do with creating or building your ideal future. Your mind needs to feel like it is engaged in something that is going to help you thrive and not just survive.

Allow your mind to be open to new ideas and possibilities.

                                             "Success doesn't happen overnight.

Keep your eye on the prize and don't look back."

                                                           - Erin Andrews

Sorry, I Don't Do Guilt Trips

                                                        "Guilt is to the spirit,

what pain is to the body."

                                                     - Elder David A. Bednar

Do you have a tendency to feel guilty over a lot of things that you have done or didn't do?

If you do, you are not alone.

Many people are walking around with huge feelings of guilt.

Guilt is a very destructive emotion.

Unfortunately a lot of people were raised with a lot of guilt, and they are having a hard time letting go of it.

Anything little that some people do, and that they don't think or feel is right, they create huge guilt over it.

How do we learn to deal with guilt?

We learn to forgive ourselves. We can't change what we did so why walking around feeling guilty over it. If we would have known better back then, we would have done better. We learned and now we know, and in the future we will do better. Forgive and then let it go.

Forgiving is a very healthy concept. We must learn to forgive ourselves. What we did yesterday we cannot change. But we can learn from it, let it go and move on.

If someone has done something to us, we mustn't  hold a grudge or resent them, let it go. It doesn't mean that we will allow this person to do the same thing to us again. We simply have to move away from the person or the situation and then let it go.

It's time to let go of thoughts that are negative and not moving us in the direction that we want to go. These thoughts are holding us down, slowing us down and they are preventing us from moving in a more positive direction with our own life.

Wrong thinking won't lead us to a happy and joyful place. We must learn to let it go.

No amount of guilt can change the past

and no amount of worry can change the future.

Stop feeling guilty and set yourself free.

No one can cause us to think something that we don't want to think. We have complete control over our own thoughts and our mind.

We must learn to forgive ourselves and forgive others.

How about starting to love ourselves instead?

It's time to respect of ourselves.

We must have a healthy respect of ourselves and what we are capable of creating and doing.

Carrying bad thoughts of anyone and anything is not doing anyone any good.

Forgiveness will allow things to grow in our life and it will cause us to have more energy, be happier and healthier.

Thoughts Create Reality

Choose your thoughts wisely for they are the energy

                                                    that create your life.

A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all this thoughts.

Have you read the book..... As A Man Thinketh, written by James Allen?

It's a great book that emphasizes that we are what we think. So if we want a better life we must think better thoughts.

As a Man Thinketh is a self-help book by James Allen, published in 1903.

Described by Allen as "A book that will help you to help yourself," it is in many ways the first self-help book.

The body is the servant of the mind. It obeys the operations of the mind, whether they be deliberately chosen or automatically expressed. At the bidding of unlawful thoughts the body sinks rapidly into disease and decay; at the command of glad and beautiful thoughts it becomes clothed with youthfulness and beauty.

Disease and health, like circumstances are rooted in thought. Sickly thoughts will express themselves through a sickly body. Thoughts of fear have been known to kill a man as speedily as a bullet, and they are continually killing thousands of people just as surely though less rapidly.

The people who live in fear of disease are the people who get it. Anxiety quickly demoralizes the whole body, and lays it open to the entrances of disease, while impure thoughts, even if not physically indulged will soon shatter the nervous system.

Strong, pure, and happy thoughts build up the body in vigor and grace. The body is a delicate and plastic instrument, which responds readily to the thoughts by which will produce their own effects, good or bad, upon it.

From the book....As A Man Thinketh

Energy Flows Where Your Attention Goes

"Where your focus goes, your energy flows.

Focus on what you want, where you are going

and what you are actively creating."

                                                              - Les Brown

Do you usually focus on what is missing in your life?

Or.....

Do you focus on what you already have in your life?

Do you usually focus on what you can't control?

Or.....

Do you focus on what you can control?

Do you usually focus on what happened in the past or what you fear in the future?

Or.....

Do you focus on what is going on in the present?

If you usually focus on what is missing, what you can't control and what happened in the past and what you fear what will happen in the future....what type of action will you take to change your situation and to make your life better?

You probably won't do much.

How about if you focus and are grateful for what you already have, what you can control, you live in the present moment and look at the future with hope and faith, what type of action steps will you take?

You will probably take a lot of action to change and make things happen in your life.

"Focus on where you want to go.

                                                            Not on what you fear."

                                                                 - Tony Robbins

In the end..... what we decide to focus on and what it means, will determine what we will do.

It will ultimately determine what kind of action steps will will take to improve our situation and our life.

                                                       If you don't like something,

just take away it's only power:

                                                               Your Attention.

Your Energy Introduces You Before You Even Speak

                                               "The higher the energy level,

                                               the more efficient the body.

                                              The more efficient the body,

the better you feel and the more you will use your talents

                                            to produce outstanding results."

                                                        -Tony Robbins

Your energy level that you bring to the world is very important.

If you would take an honest look at yourself, your habits and how you show up in the world on a regular basis, what is your energy level on a scale from one to ten?

                                         "Your energy level introduces you

                                                before you even speak."

Energy is a very important ingredient in any relationship, whether it's business, romantic or friendship.

Would you want to date a person with a low energy level?

Would you do business with a person with low energy level?

                                                 "Energy is contagious:

                                               either you affect people

                                                 or you infect people."

                                                      - T. Harv Eker

How much energy are you putting into your own relationships, personal and business?

You must always remember that you are going to get the same energy back as you put into something.

Energy is a habit, and it is an inside job.

                                                        "To reach the top,

you must have the energy to make the journey."

In the end, you are responsible for the energy you bring.

You Are Who You Hang Out With

"You are the average of the five

people you spend the most time with."

                                                          - Jim Rohn

Take a good look at the people that you spend most of your time with.

Are they winners that are going somewhere in life?

Or are they people who like to complain, blame and spread negativity around themselves wherever they go?

Our relationships will determine 85 percent of our happiness or our unhappiness.

If you have bad personal relationships they will drag you down worse than a sea-anchor.

A bad boss can destroy all your joy in work. And one negative co-worker can cast a darkness over an entire office, because of their negativity.

"You need the right people with you,

                                                              not the best."

                                                              - Jack Ma

I remember many years ago listening to Tony Robbins talking about how important it is to ask yourself a couple of important questions when you are about to hire someone.

What I also find interesting with these question are that you can also ask yourself the same question when you are dating someone and you feel like you want to take the relationship to the next level.

Here are three important questions

1 Can they do the job?

Do they have the skills and the experience?

2 Will they do they job long term?

What are their goals and also what is their true nature?

3 Are they a team fit?

Do you fit together?

"You need to associate with people that inspire you,
people that challenge you to rise higher,
                                            people that make you better.
Don´t waste your valuable time with people
that are not adding to your growth.

                                              Your destiny is to important."
                                                       - Joel Osteen

Make sure that you associate with people that will inspire you and lift you higher. People that will make you better.

Select your relationships with care.
Only associate with people that you like, respect and enjoy being around.

How To Create A Compelling Future

Let go of the past, so you can open the door to your future.

Do you want to have a compelling future to look forward to?

Who doesn't!!!

I know I do.

Here a few things I have learned from Tony Robbins when it comes to creating a compelling future.

"A compelling future is the food on which our souls thrive."

                                                              - Tony Robbins

First we must take a look at the way things are right now.

We must be totally honest with ourselves when we look at where we are at this moment.

Always write everything down on a pieces of paper, because things do look different on a piece of paper than they do stuck in your head.

Second we must see it better than it is.

Time to create a vision. This might take a little time and it also needs to be written down on a piece of paper.

Everyone needs a compelling future. If you have a compelling future, something to look forward to, it will make it easier to deal with what is going on right now in your life, because you can see your future, in advance.

The third one is to now start creating it the way we see it.

Time to start creating your future. Start developing a game plan that will take you from where you are today, to where you want to be in the future.

"Your future depends on what you do today."

                                                             - Mahatma Gandhi

Here is a quick tip!

Stop focusing on what isn't working and what you don't like and don't want.

Shift  your focus to what you want and what is already working.

Your thoughts will create your reality and your future, and if you want something new and exciting in your future you can't focus on the opposite.

You have control over your own thoughts, so make sure you focus your thoughts in the direction you want to go.

"The best way to predict the future is to create it."

                                                        - Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee

You've Got The Power To Accomplish Your Dream

"Low self-esteem is like driving through life

                                                       with your hand-break on."

                                                            - Maxwell Maltz

I just finished reading the book Psycho-Cybernetics for the second time, and I absolutely love this book.

It's written by Maxwell Maltz, and it was first published in 1960.

I have to say that it is on my top 10 list of favorite self help books that I have read so far.

If you haven't read it yet you must get a copy and read it. It's filled with so much wisdom, teachings and insight. In other words....priceless!

Maltz was the first researcher and author to explain how the self-image has complete control over an individual's ability to achieve (or fail to achieve) any goal. And he developed techniques that anyone can use to improve and manage self-image - visualization, mental rehearsal, relaxation. These techniques have informed and inspired countless motivational gurus, sports psychologists, and self-help practitioners for more than fifty years.

The teachings of Psycho-Cybernetics are timeless because they are based on solid science and provide a prescription for thinking and acting that leads to quantifiable results.

                                                   "Accept yourself as you are.

Otherwise you will never see opportunity.

                                         You will never feel free to move toward it;

you will feel you are not deserving."

                                                            - Maxwell Maltz

Chapter Thirteen

How to Turn a Crisis into a Creative Opportunity

A "crisis" is a situation that can either make you or break you. If you react properly to the situation, a "crisis" can give you strength, power, wisdom you do not ordinarily possess. If you react improperly, a crisis can rob you of the skill, control, and ability that you ordinarily have to call upon.

In order to perform well in a crisis: (1) We need to learn certain skills under conditions where we will not be over-motivated; we need to practice without pressure. (2) We need to learn to react to crisis with aggression, rather than a defensive, attitude; to respond to the challenge in the situation, rather than to the menace; to keep our positive goal in mind. (3) We need to learn to evaluate so-called crisis situations in their true perspective; to not make mountains out of molehills, or react as if every small challenge is a matter of life and death.

From Psycho-Cybernetics.

"Within you right now is the power to do things

                                                      you never thought was possible.

This power becomes available to you just as soon

                                                      as you change your beliefs."

                                                                   - Maxwell Maltz

If you don't have a copy of this book yet.....I recommend that you get one TODAY.

Life Is Like A Puzzle

                                                               "Life is like a puzzle.

Only if you fit the pieces to the right places,

you will see the beauty of it."

                                                                     - Dave Nahar

Are you having a hard time visualizing your future goals?

Do you have a crystal clear picture in your mind what your final destination will look like when you get there?

If you can't visualize this, you are not alone. A lot of people can't see the picture in their mind of what it will look like when they have finally reached their goal.

So today I want to share a great exercise that I read about in a book a while back.

Have you ever done a puzzle?

One of those puzzles that has a pretty picture on the front and has anywhere from 500 to several thousand pieces that you must put together to be able to make it look like the picture on the front of the box.

I believe most of you have done one of these puzzles sometime in your life. I have done a few of  these puzzles, but it has been a very long time now since I did one.

Maybe you haven't done one either in a while, but I am sure you remember the idea of doing it.

Now think of your vision as a puzzle with a 1000 pieces.

First you have to decide what the picture on the front of the box is going to look like.

Then you have to start putting the puzzle together, one piece at a time. Sometimes the piece you pick up might fit right away, but sometimes it doesn't and you have to put it back and try another one and then yet another one, until you will find one that fits.

You keep doing this. One piece at a time. And the whole time you are putting the pieces together you have the picture of the front of the box constantly reminding you what it it will look like when you finish it. This picture will guide you and keep you on track and it will help you make sense of all the pieces and also where they need to go.

This is the way we build our vision for our life.

First we have to decide what kind of  picture we want on the front of the box. We must have the picture of the goal in mind and then we can start building. It's a process that is done one step at a time. Sometimes the step we take will work and sometimes it won't. At other times we have to leave that step and try it a little later and then all of a sudden it will work. The steps have to be done in a certain order to work.

We must keep working on this puzzle, a little bit every day and then finally we will lay down the last piece, and then the puzzle is complete and you can see the whole picture and it looks exactly like the picture on the front of the box.

Time To Clean Out The Toxic Influences

                                           "Sometimes ... cleaning house...

means removing what is toxic in your life.

                                           People, places, and things."

                                                          - Linda

Last week I wrote a BLOG talking about how our body is our temple and that we must keep it clean from toxins crossing our path every day. It's our own responsibility to keep our body and our mind clean and healthy.

Here is the link to the BLOG if you missed it:

In this BLOG I was mainly talking about how to cleanse our body in 3 simple steps.

Here they are:

  1. Stop the poisoning
  2. Cleanse the body
  3. Add the good stuff

Today I want to focus on the mind and how to keep it clean from toxins. I felt like I didn't have enough time to cover it it last week so I figure that today will be the perfect day to dig in a little deeper on how to cleanse our mind.

Some people and situations can be very negative and even toxic and it's important that we become aware of this as soon as possible.
I am sure you have had and experience with a negative or even toxic person in your own life. Maybe at work, in your family, in a romantic relationship or friendship.
It's easy to ignore the early warning sign because they are often very slow to appear. Unfortunately we often allow the people closest to us to continue with their negativity far longer than it's healthy for us.
And we often allow it to continue because in some way we feel we must tolerate it. Or we are afraid to speak up because we don't want to rock the boat at home or at work. Or we might even fear abandonment if we start setting boundaries.

I speak from experience, and I will use myself as an example.
Exactly 11 years ago I left a very narcissistic abusive partner. The relationship was wonderful for many years but slowly it became negative and eventually very toxic. It was time for me to exit before it got worse. And I did.

I am not writing this BLOG to talk about negative and toxic people, but instead how to cleanse ourselves from the very negative poison that we have been exposed to for a short period of time and sometimes we have been exposed for years, maybe even decades.

Here is the process to cleanse the mind:

  1. Stop the poisoning
  2. Cleanse the body
  3. Add the good stuff

Yes, it's the same process as cleansing the body.

First we have to stop the poisoning.
In 2012 I left the abusive relationship. I was no longer going to allow this person to poison my body, mind, spirit and also the environment where I was living. I would not have been able to cleanse my body and mind if I was still exposed to the poison.
Maybe it's time to spend less time with certain people and sometimes we might even have to cut them out of our life completely. It doesn't matter who they are, if they are negative or toxic and they are not willing to change, we must  protect ourselves, our health, and our own peace of mind.
Another great way to stop poison in our environment is to be very selective when we watch TV. Especially the news. Stop reading the newspaper.
Start paying attention to what we read, watch and listen to online and on social media.
If there is a lot of negativity at work, maybe it's time to brush up on our skills, create a new resume and start looking for a better job.

Time to do a complete cleanse.
Pay attention to what we think, talk about and write. Pay attention and stop ourselves from spreading poison to others.
In 2012 I had to start cleaning up my own thought patterns that I had developed for several years. I had to let go of talking about my ex and the life that I used to have and also my dreams for the future. It was all gone and I had to start all over again building  a new dream for my life.
Grieving was past of the cleanse and so was therapy and also group therapy. Doing a huge research project about narcissism and after getting enough understanding of it, letting it go.

Time to add the good stuff.
I have immersed myself in personal development for the last decade. I have created a new dream, new goals for my life and I also became a life coach and started my own coaching business in 2013. I continue to add the good stuff on a daily basis. I have taken some big steps out in the unknown, taken chances, had huge setbacks, got back up again, learned a lot and continuing to add more good stuff.
Learning, growing and expanding on a daily basis.
Start reading some personal development books. Listen to inspiring podcasts. Read great articles. Attend seminars live and now you can find a lot of seminars via Zoom.
Set new goals. Create a new dream for our life.
Hire a mentor or a coach to show us the way.

The Body Is Your Temple... Keep It Clean!

                                                 "Take care of your body.

It's the only place you have to live."

                                                          - Jim Rohn

One week ago I completed a 4 day event with Tony Robbins and 15 other speakers in the field of health, wellbeing, vitality and energy. Life Mastery was the name of the event and usually Tony does this event in Fiji, but this time we got to do it virtually from our own living room.

We were 2000 people, from almost 80 different countries that came together live via Zoom for this event. I absolutely loved Life Mastery. So much important and life changing information and wisdom presented by Tony and his team and also by the 15 guest speakers.

It started with a ice bath the first night and I have to admit, I did not participate in this ice bath.

We also went through a cleanse that Anthony William, one of Tony's speakers and the author of the book...Cleanse To Heal, had designed for us. About seven to ten days prior to the event we were all informed to drastically decrease or eliminate certain foods and drinks so that we would be ready for the cleanse when the event started.

Here are a few things that they recommend us to drastically reduce or eliminate: Sugar, gluten, dairy, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, soda, animal flesh, cigarettes...... just to name a few. Then they suggested to bring in more vegetables and fruits and drink plenty of water.
The cleanse consisted of certain vegetables, certain fruits, smoothies, celery juice, lemon water, herb teas and plenty of water.
It was an interesting experience and not that difficult to do.
All the recipes that we used are in the book.....Cleanse To Heal.

  1. Stop the poisoning
  2. Cleanse the body
  3. Add the good stuff

First we have to take a good look at what are the poisons in our life. Here are a few examples to watch out for. Cleaning items we use in our home, perfume, scented candles, air fresheners, deodorant and certain cosmetics. Plastic is another thing that isn't good for us. Things we use in our yard to fight the bugs and the weeds.

Then we have to look at the food we eat and what we drink. A lot of items we buy at the grocery store isn't even food. The meat and dairy contain so much added stuff that is often unhealthy for us. Even vegetables and fruits have been sprayed with pesticides, so we should try to select organic as often as possible.

Lastly, all the information we are picking up via newspapers, TV, radio and the internet. Other people opinions and agenda. Who we spend time with will have an affect on us. We must constantly guard our mind from poison from the outside world and then we also have our own stinking thinking to deal with.

Then we have some poison that we have less control over and pollution is an example of that.

                                               The body is your temple!
Keep it pure and clean for the soul to reside in.

How can we win?
How can we stay healthy in a quite unhealthy world?

Stop The Poison
First we have to look at our life and become aware of all the poison and then figure out what we have control over and stop it. We do have control over a lot more than we think we do. Awareness is key. We must study, learn, seek out knowledge and then make an educated decision. Ignorance isn't bliss. Remaining ignorant can make us sick.

Cleanse The Body
When we have figured out all the poison and things that are bad for us, it's time to get rid of them. Time to cleanse to body and the mind. Get rid of things that are not good for us and that also includes people and habits.

Add The Good Stuff
Once the poison and bad stuff has left the body, it's time to add the good stuff that make us feel whole, healthy, happy and filled with energy again.

What healthier things are you going to add?
