"Life is like a puzzle.
Only if you fit the pieces to the right places,
you will see the beauty of it."
- Dave Nahar
Are you having a hard time visualizing your future goals?
Do you have a crystal clear picture in your mind what your final destination will look like when you get there?
If you can't visualize this, you are not alone. A lot of people can't see the picture in their mind of what it will look like when they have finally reached their goal.
So today I want to share a great exercise that I read about in a book a while back.
Have you ever done a puzzle?
One of those puzzles that has a pretty picture on the front and has anywhere from 500 to several thousand pieces that you must put together to be able to make it look like the picture on the front of the box.
I believe most of you have done one of these puzzles sometime in your life. I have done a few of these puzzles, but it has been a very long time now since I did one.
Maybe you haven't done one either in a while, but I am sure you remember the idea of doing it.
Now think of your vision as a puzzle with a 1000 pieces.
First you have to decide what the picture on the front of the box is going to look like.
Then you have to start putting the puzzle together, one piece at a time. Sometimes the piece you pick up might fit right away, but sometimes it doesn't and you have to put it back and try another one and then yet another one, until you will find one that fits.
You keep doing this. One piece at a time. And the whole time you are putting the pieces together you have the picture of the front of the box constantly reminding you what it it will look like when you finish it. This picture will guide you and keep you on track and it will help you make sense of all the pieces and also where they need to go.
This is the way we build our vision for our life.
First we have to decide what kind of picture we want on the front of the box. We must have the picture of the goal in mind and then we can start building. It's a process that is done one step at a time. Sometimes the step we take will work and sometimes it won't. At other times we have to leave that step and try it a little later and then all of a sudden it will work. The steps have to be done in a certain order to work.
We must keep working on this puzzle, a little bit every day and then finally we will lay down the last piece, and then the puzzle is complete and you can see the whole picture and it looks exactly like the picture on the front of the box.
